How to Create a Course Presentation Using Beautiful.ai

After signing up, click "New Presentation" from your dashboard. You'll see a library of starter templates organized by purpose — education, business, pitch decks. You can start from a template or from scratch. For your first course deck, I'd suggest starting from scratch so you understand how Smart Slides work, then exploring templates for your second deck.

Click the "+" button to add a slide, and you'll see the Smart Slide menu. Each type is purpose-built: Title slides, bullet lists, numbered steps, comparison tables, image grids, timelines, charts, and more. Pick the type that matches what you're teaching in that section.

You don't need to plan the whole sequence upfront — add slides as you work through your content.

You can also upload your logo to appear on title slides or as a watermark. Keep it subtle — your slides should teach, not advertise.

If you've already built course slides in PowerPoint or Google Slides, Beautiful.ai can import them. The import is solid for text content but may need adjustments for complex layouts — custom animations, non-standard fonts, and layered graphics don't always translate perfectly. Think of it as a starting point rather than a one-click migration.

You can present directly from Beautiful.ai in your browser, which is the smoothest experience since the Smart Slide animations are built in. If you need a file — for uploading to your course platform, for instance — export to PowerPoint or PDF. The PowerPoint export preserves most formatting, though some of the auto-layout polish is lost in translation.

For recorded course lessons, I'd recommend presenting from Beautiful.ai while screen recording with a tool like Loom or OBS. The built-in presentation mode looks clean and professional.

Smart Slides work best when each slide has a single clear point. Resist the urge to cram everything into fewer slides — your students process information better when it's broken into digestible pieces. More slides with less content each is almost always better for learning, and Beautiful.ai's auto-formatting rewards this approach.

Your slides should support your teaching, not replace it. If you're recording a video lesson, put the key phrase or concept on the slide and explain the rest verbally. If students can read the whole lesson from your slides alone, you've put too much on them. Beautiful.ai doesn't work offline. It's entirely browser-based, so you need an internet connection to create and present. If you regularly present in locations with unreliable wifi, export to PowerPoint as a backup.
